My face when I realize there’s only a week left to apply to intern with me this summer 🙈 I think I’m almost as blown away as Cami was in this moment by the applications I have received! I cannot wait to figure out who my new friend & go to gal is going to be this summer! Just a friendly reminder to get those applications in by next Friday ✨ link in bio to apply!
To all my almost engaged couples, brides to be, & photographers new to this whole engagement pictures thing, I’ve got something special for you in the link in my bio. I’m sharing all my tips, tricks, and advice for how to have a fantastic engagement session and get the most authentic & beautiful pictures showcasing who you are as a couple ✨ I’m talking everything from where to take your pictures, how to pick out outfits that will look great together, what can help you be more comfortable in front of the camera, photographer communication & more! You’re going to want to check this out 🤩
YESTERDAY, let me just say I loved It 👏🏻 I made my way to Charlotte to hang with one of my 2019 couples to shoot their engagement pictures and it was the best time! I had never met Alex or Brian before we had our shoot, so I asked them if they wanted to grab drinks (so we grabbed some margs obviously) and hang out beforehand and we had the best time getting to know each other and becoming real life friends!⁣
⁣
A year ago I probably would’ve been so intimidated to hop in my car and drive to another city to take pictures of a couple I had never met before, but not anymore. I was so eager & excited not just to take their pictures, but to actually make two new friends! It’s crazy how much confidence I’ve gained in the past year & how because of that I’m able to serve my couples better and offer them so much more to make them feel comfortable and at ease through the whole taking pictures process. I asked them each to answer a few questions for me individually a few days before their session which really helped me get to know them as a couple before I even met them. One of the things I asked was what do they want to remember about their relationship right now years down the road and I truly think that Brian’s answer was displayed through their pictures which makes my heart so happy 🖤 He said: “How I'd pick her over anyone to do anything with, and how much fun we have with each other... always looking each other in the eyes, really listening to each other, and most importantly just joking around all the time.” I just can’t wait to hang with these two again at their wedding in September!
HAPPY FRIDAY AND HAPPY FEBRUARY 💕💕💕 ⁣
⁣
I’m seriously as freakin excited for this month as @harpermidds in this pic!!! It’s officially a month off of shooting weddings for me before my busy season starts up & I could not be more eager for some super fun things I’ve got going on this month! ⁣
⁣
Hint: I’ll be heading to 3 different states, one of which I’ve never been to before 🤩 I hope y’all are as ready for the fun & adventure that awaits this month as I am! Oh and raise your hand if you’re singing praises that we are one month closer to warmer weather 🙋🏻‍♀️
Okay funny story time... I woke up this morning super tired and turned my alarm off so quickly without a second thought. Flash forward to 30 mins later when I woke up in a straight up PANIC because I saw what time It was and remembered I had to be at a shoot in 5 minutes 🤦🏻‍♀️ as I’m literally scrambling to text @jordanbgore and tell her I overslept and will be there in 20 mins and am pulling on clothes, brushing my teeth, pulling my hair into a baseball cap and preparing to walk out of my apt looking like I’ve been hit by a bus, I look at my phone only to realize it’s THURSDAY morning not FRIDAY morning and I’ve completely mixed my days up and my shoot is in fact tomorrow not today. I felt a mixture of dumb, tired, and relieved that I had mixed It up and had a not so peaceful morning. But ya know it’s okay because now I have a little comic relief for the rest of the day and this THURSDAY can only get better from here 😂 just wanted to share some real life on here - also please tell me I’m not the only delusional person who has woken up thinking it’s a completely different day of the week?!
I remember taking Hannah Kate and Graham’s engagement pictures and as soon as we arrived at the beach to finish out their session at sunset, all of these huge cargo ships just happened to be in the water and we had a couple of magical minutes to capture some adventurous shots for them to remember their time in Charleston. It’s crazy we just happened to be there as this ship was passing by, and to this day these pictures are some of my favorites because they remind me that in life everything is all about timing. ⁣
⁣
As much as I’d like to think I have an ounce of control over my life, that I can figure out how everything is going to work out and when exactly the things I want so badly are going to happen, the reality is I have no control over any of It. The only person in charge of this thing called timing which makes things work out oh so perfectly or fall apart in a minute is the Lord. And when It gets down to the nitty gritty details of It all, I (we) have to make a decision - do I or don’t I trust him? Because that’s what it’s really all about. And if I live my life proclaiming I trust him with my soul and believing that to be true, how much more eagerly should I not only trust that his timing is perfect, but that It is good.⁣
⁣
I don’t know what you’re waiting for and hoping for that the timing just hasn’t worked out yet, but I feel like my life story is one of waiting and trusting. And goodness believe me it’s hard, I know. But there comes a point when you realize that your efforts are useless and that all the Lord is asking of you is surrender and to trust that if He loves you enough to save you, he’s got you in all the other things. I pray that in whatever season you find yourself not understanding God’s timing, that you would have the courage to surrender It all to Him and to have hope. Hope that’s stronger than ever, even in the face of disappointment and the things that just don’t make any sense 🖤
AUTHENTIC - an emotionally appropriate, significant, purposive, and responsible mode of human life.⁣
⁣
This may be one of, if not the most, important words & values in my business and my life. ⁣
⁣
I didn’t realize until learning a lot about myself throughout the transitions of the past year how important this word truly was to me. Maybe it’s because of my enneagram number (if you don’t know by now I’m a 4 lol) and personality, but being genuine and honest are two qualities I am eager to have in all areas of my life. My core motivation in everything I say or do is always coming from a place of authenticity or a yearning to be genuine. ⁣
⁣
I want to be the most authentic version of myself in all situations - which can probably be a good and a bad thing at times. I don’t try to cover up my flaws and I’m quick to admit how my personal life is craziness most of the time (just look at my purse or messy car or mismatched socks), but it’s because I want to be seen and truly known for who I really am, not some perceived version of myself. ⁣
⁣
And I want you to be seen and known for who you truly are as well. That’s part of the reason I love my job so much. I see every photo shoot or wedding as an opportunity to capture moments and people authentically - fully encompassing the stories that are unique to different people, places and days. ⁣
⁣
My hope is to participate in storytelling through my pictures. I want people to be able to look back on their wedding day pictures or engagement season and be able feel the emotions and imagine the time exactly for what It was through the photos I’ve given them.⁣
⁣
It’s such a reward that I get to do what I love and use my words to build others up and encourage people while I shoot and I get to really know them for who they truly are as I work with them in some of the most special and growing seasons of their lives. ⁣
⁣
After this year of shooting and running this business (and just adulting in general haha) I’m so thankful that I value authentic relationships and have the desire to be truly known by those around me and the ability to really know & see others and capture their stories in this unique way 🖤
Goodness theses two cuties are so much fun and such a joy too spend time with. I didn’t know either of them before booking their wedding, so a few weeks before their engagement pictures I got a chance to grab coffee with them and we all got to know each other which I’m so thankful for! As we got to talking, one of the first things Kate says is, “oh wow yes I feel the same way! I’m a 4 on the enneagram so that makes sense to me!” and at that point I was like okay done deal this girl is my soul sister and we are going to be friends! ⁣
⁣
We had so much fun playing around the streets and by the water in Columbia for their engagement pictures. Their love & silliness & sweetness with one another truly shined through their pictures and I’m just super excited I get to have two new kind hearted friends because of my job 🤩🤩🤩
This week has been nothing short of dreaming on my end and just being real grateful for all that I’ve been blessed with in this season. As I met one of my long time friends today to chat about me shooting her wedding this summer, I couldn’t help but smile for a few reasons:⁣
⁣
1. That I get to love on, serve, and document the sweetest moments for a kind hearted friend of many years during this special season as her and her love prepare for their marriage (and I’m so honored they trust me to be in this with them). ⁣
⁣
2. As I sat in the Starbucks on Augusta, I couldn’t help but think back to exactly a year ago when I met one of the first brides I booked at the exact same table to talk about shooting her wedding last year.⁣
⁣
Flash forward a year and today I’ve booked almost 40 weddings in that time period and I’m seriously in awe and so so humbled. My expectations in the past have always tended to be low because of past hurts and disappointments, but honestly even though in my lack of faith at times I keep low balling what God is going to do in my life and my business, He keeps doing immeasurably more than I could have ever asked or imagined. There are tears in my eyes as I try to find the words for just how joyful I am when I think about all of this and how it’s literally all by His grace and His desire to provide for me. ⁣
⁣
So I just want to say thank you to anyone and everyone who has supported me throughout the past year whether it’s been through hiring me to take your pictures, trusting me with your most special day, sending me an encouraging text or dm, or cheering me on from afar. And I want to encourage anyone that has a gift or a dream to just hand It to the Lord and He will do so much more with it than you can even think to ask for.
Yes, you read that right 🙈 I’m excited and very humbled to officially announce that I’m hiring an intern for this summer! It’s crazy to me that my business has grown so much and is continuing to develop to the point that I truly cannot run my business to the best of my ability all on my own - loving on my clients well and giving 110% to wedding days & sessions & everything in between while keeping up with creative and logistical things behind the scenes - it’s a lot of work for just one girl and I’m willing to admit that. So after much thought and prayer and talking with lots of people close to me who see the craziness behind the scenes, I decided that this summer was the perfect time to expand my team a little bit and bring someone else under me to help me out part time and hopefully get to gain experience in their creativity from working with me this season. ⁣ ⁣
This internship is going to be part time with flexible hours and work that is both remote & in person. The focus of this internship will be creative and administrative work to keep the logistical as well as the creative sides of my business flourishing while I am shooting and editing lots of weddings during my busiest season. Photography experience is not required to apply (although It is appreciated). However, if you are interested in expanding your photography skills there will be plenty of time and opportunities throughout the summer for you to learn and grow in that area of work as well ✨⁣
⁣
To find out more about the person I’m looking for and what the internship entails, click the link in my bio to read all the details and apply for the position! If you know a creative friend who you think would be interested in spending some fun time with me this summer, I would love for you to tag them in the comments below ⬇️ And if you’ve made it this far, thank you so much for supporting my business and following along on this crazy journey with me! I can’t wait to have the best time with a new friend this summer 🤩⁣
Can you tell it was literally 30 degrees and sleeting by looking at these pictures? I can’t... because all I see are these two beautiful souls so happy to finally be married that all they can do is look at each other smiling and soaking up each other’s love without a care in the freaking world. That’s what wedding days are all about, and it’s my favorite when I get to capture these pure moments of joy & gratitude & new beginnings. ⁣⁣
⁣⁣

Thouroughly enjoyed shooting this gorgeous day with @kileyylauren last weekend & can’t wait to tag along with her for another wedding day tomorrow ✨
Happy happy Friday! Thought I’d throw back to one of my favorite weddings I’ve second shot with @kileyylauren since we are headed to Winston-Salem to shoot a wedding together this weekend! I always take any chance I get to spend time laughing with and learning from my girl. ⁣
⁣
Thinking back to this beautiful wedding day, which was filled with all the love and friends and beautiful people, I can’t help but remember how hot it was and how we practically crawled to our cars after shooting a double wedding weekend in the middle of the state that weekend (we are crazy). ⁣
⁣
Well jokes on us cause we are heading into a winter storm this time around 🤦🏻‍♀️ prayers that we don’t freeze to death are much appreciated!!
