Central Park Engagement // Nick and Larkin

This weekend was truly one for the books because on Friday I had the privilege of photographing two of my very best friends getting engaged! This was hands down the biggest and hardest secret I have ever kept, but it was so worth it for the way the day turned out. I was so honored to be asked to play a tiny role in this day for Larkin and Nick, and I will undoubtedly carry this memory with me throughout my life.

This engagement was unlike others for many reasons. First of all, I am equally great friends with both Larkin and Nick. Nick and I met in high school and were in the same friend group. Throughout high school and into college we become the best of friends and have since shared many fun memories together! Freshman year of college, I met Larkin and I instantly knew we were going to be great friends because of our mutual love for NYC, Taylor Swift, and Anthropologie. All throughout the fall of our Freshman year at Clemson, Larkin had a crush on Nick, but she never said a word to me about it. I remember we were all at a party in January of our freshman year and Nick pulled me aside and told me that he wanted to take Larkin on a date and I thought it was a great idea. From there, things took off for them and I got to sit on the sidelines watching their relationship develop through every stage over these past three years. Although there have beens lots of ups and a few downs along the way, I wholeheartedly know that these two are meant to end up together because of their love for each other and their faith in the Lord. They push each other to grow outside of their comfort zones and intentionally lead each other to be more like Christ.

So, when Nick told me a few months ago that he was going to propose when he came to visit Larkin in NYC I was PUMPED!!! I am not going to lie, it was incredibly hard to live with someone for the past two months keeping it casual and hiding the BIGGEST SURPRISE EVER, but somehow Nick and I managed to pull it through until the end. Nick told Larkin he was meeting with a business friend on Friday morning in Central Park (hehe that was me) and for Larkin to meet him there and they could picnic after his meeting. After grabbing all the necessities (cute picnic blanket, flowers, and yummy food) we set up in a shady spot on Cherry Hill overlooking the city, Bow bridge, and the Bethesda terrace. Larkin met Nick at Bethesda and then he texted me saying they were on their way to the spot. I hid downhill, behind a tree for the longest 35 minutes of my life, barely peeping out every five seconds while they ate and talked, Larkin having absolutely zero idea what was about to happen. Eventually, Nick got up the nerve and to Larkin's complete surprise, he got down on one knee and popped the question! I sprinted out of hiding, and in the emotions of it all, I tried my best to capture the moments of sheer surprise, joy, & jubilee that followed. Lets just say that there were lots of happy tears and giggles and shouts of "we're getting married!!!!" for the next hour or so, but it couldn't have been more perfect.

Larkin and Nick, you both have been amazing friends to me and I cannot wait to watch you walk through this season of engagement and into the life that the Lord has planned for you. I love you both with my whole heart and always will <3
